Description
Aimed specifically at medical translators, this workshop will explore the complex area of obstetrics.
You will participate in two lectures delivered by Prof. Philip Steer, Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics, Imperial College London and Editor Emeritus of the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, who will cover aspects of pregnancy and its complications for both mother and baby, in two wide-ranging lectures. This will be followed by a practical translation session, during which you will have the opportunity to practise your translation skills with your colleagues on the papers provided beforehand.
Agenda:
10:30 AM -- Arrivals and coffee/tea
11:00 AM -- Prof. Steer’s first talk
12:45 PM -- Cold buffet lunch
2:00 PM -- Prof. Steer’s second talk
3:30 PM -- Coffee/tea break
4:00 PM -- Practical translation session*
5:30 PM -- Finish
* During the practical translation session participants will be divided into language groups to work on the papers provided beforehand, with Prof. Steer circulating among the groups to offer expert advice.
As last year, plans for a post-workshop drink at the nearby Marquis Cornwallis and/or evening meal at Carluccio’s in the Brunswick Centre will be arranged, with more details to follow for those who indicate on the Eventbrite booking confirmation that they wish to participate. Please note that the evening meal is not included in the workshop price.
